Use PING to test if a remote server is available. Note that some servers and firewalls are configured to ignore ping requests.
The HTTP/HTTPS test connects to a webserver and attempts to retrieve the page. This test reports the connection time and the data download time.
The DNS A record lookup allows you to locate one or more IP addresses for a given host name.
The DNS MX record lookup allows you to locate one or more mail server addresses for a given host name.
The DNS NS record lookup allows you to locate one or more nameserver records for a given host name. Note that this is not the same as a WHOIS lookup for a domain's registered nameservers.
The DNS TXT record lookup allows you to locate one or more text records for a given host name.
The DKIM record lookup is a specific type of TXT lookup and allows you to locate the DKIM record for a domain. A DKIM is published in an attempt to link a mail server to a domain name and reduce spam.

The IMAP test will connect to a remote IMAP mail server and verify connectivity. If you enter a username and password, it will additionally attempt to log in and verify your credentials and account.
The IMAPS test will connect to a remote IMAPS mail server and verify connectivity. IMAPS provides an SSL enabled IMAP server. If you enter a username and password, it will additionally attempt to log in and verify your credentials and account.
The SMTP test will connect to a remote SMTP mail server and verify connectivity. If you enter a username and password, it will additionally attempt to authenticate you. If you enter an email address, a test email will be dispatched to that address.
The SMTPS test will connect to a remote SMTPS mail server and verify connectivity. An SMTPS server provides SMTP over SSL functionality. If you enter a username and password, it will additionally attempt to authenticate you. If you enter an email address, a test email will be dispatched to that address.
The SSH test will connect to a remote SSH server and verify connectivity. If you enter a username and password, it will additionally attempt to authenticate you. If you enter an email address, a test email will be dispatched to that address.
The Blacklist lookup will test to see if the outbound mail server IP you enter is listed on common spam blacklists. This will impact email delivery.
The FTP test will connect to a remote FTP server and verify connectivity. If you enter a username and password, it will additionally attempt to authenticate you. If you enter an email address, a test email will be dispatched to that address.
The FTPS test will connect to a remote FTPS server and verify connectivity. The FTPS service is an SSL enabled FTP server. If you enter a username and password, it will additionally attempt to authenticate you. If you enter an email address, a test email will be dispatched to that address.
The SSL implementation check verifies a remote SSL server. The test is not limited to HTTPS servers, but can be run against any compatible SSL service. This test verifies the remote certificate and chain, provides additional information on the configuration, and provides a list of ciphers that the remote server supports.
The SPF or 'Sender Protection Framework' is another method aimed at reducing spam. It allows a list of mail servers authorized to send mail out on behalf of a domain to be specified within a domain's DNS records. Enter your mail server's IP address, an email address to test, and the HELO that the mail server provides.
The domain availability check simply reports on whether a domain name is available.
A DNS PTR lookup or "Reverse DNS" lookup maps IP addresses to hostnames.
